The well defined spectral response of the DFB laser diodes - especially under pulsed operation - create the smallest beam parameter product.

As a consequence the DFB-1064 has been qualified as a seed source for a fiber laser application to be used at NASAs C.A.T.S. program currently in service at ISS. 

Comparably space qualified DFB seed laser diodes with integrated µ-isolators as part of the frequency reference unit of the MERLIN program at 1064nm and 1645nm help measuring methane gas concentration for a better understanding of climate change. 

Generally our complete 14-pin butterfly manufacturing line and supply chain is suitable for space applications.

Water vapor detection

Based on that platform DFB-935 with integrated µ-isolators in the 14-pin butterfly housing are available for water vapor detection in the same environment.
