02/04/13: A Passion for Precision - Gets in Touch with the PowerReflecting the continuous growth and to strengthen the core competency „diode lasers“, TOPTICA Photonics AG of Graefelfing/Munich has acquired the majority ownership of the Berlin-based laser diode manufacturer eagleyard Photonics GmbH. The effective acquisition date is January 1st, 2013. With an annual turnover of about €4 Million ($5 Mio USD) eagleyard is one of the world-leading manufacturers of laser diodes providing highest spectral power and purity. Wilhelm Kaenders, President of TOPTICA Photonics AG: "With this strategic acquisition we emphasize the technological leadership of both companies. eagleyard will continue to operate as an independent company in the market and maintain its successful sales and distribution organization as well as its recognized brand." TOPTICA and eagleyard have collaborated successfully for many years. An example of this cooperation is the field high power tapered diodes that have been conceived and jointly developed to provide a series of world-first components. The important technology transfer between eagleyard and the neighboring Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchst¬frequenztechnik (FBH) will be further cultivated and enhanced with the acquisition. Prof. Günther Tränkle, head of the FBH institute: „The even closer future collaboration of these two companies as technology drivers in the photonics arena is strengthening Berlin as a center hub for optical technologies. The intimate interaction of our research with real applications leads to a world-unique knowhow pool and ultimately to competitive products which are in strong demand in the global market place." Laser diodes of eagleyard and diode lasers of TOPTICA are already today key ingredients for numerous applications. They are used in quantum optics and spectroscopy, in industrial test and measurement, medical technologies terahertz generation and in space, defense and homeland security. Jörg Muchametow, General Manager of eagleyard: „We are very pleased to see that the many years of close cooperation have finally led to this strategic acquisition. Driven by TOPTICA’s applications and system design know-how we will be able in the future to enhance and extend our product portfolio to the benefit of our customers.” |

03/13/09: eagleyard now certified in accordance to new ISO 9001:2008Therefore, the quality management system - initially implemented at eagleyard in 2005 - and annually reviewed by an independent external certification house, remains a vivid part of the corporate governance. This years areas in focus such as management, sales and marketing as well as R&D have been audited without any findings what can be seen as an impressive prove of eagleyard's established business processes. This result contributes to the challenging growth targets of eagleyard getting realized based on a solid groundwork and thus enabling a sustainable company success.
